Chairperson 3 Year Term

Richard Schadewald

I truly appreciate the cooperation and assistance I have received as chairperson the last three years from so many members of the tribal community.  So many have volunteered hours of effort and sacrifice to help move the tribe forward.  I thank all of you for your support.  I look forward to working with all tribal members as we try to achieve our goal of federal recognition.

Richard Schadewald

Treasurer 3 Year Term

Danielle Tousey Schmidt

Being Brothertown is a great gift and I hope to be of service to our nation as Treasurer.   My grandparents, Phil and Olivia Tousey,  instilled in me a pride in our heritage and a responsibility to our people.  In 2005 I was able to volunteer at the Brothertown office and assist with the Petition.

Professionally, I have been on several non-profit boards and have a Financial Advisor license.  Previously, I have worked in accounting, customer service and education, having a Master's  of Fine Arts and a Master's of Art Education.  I am excited to bring my skills to the council and look forward to carrying the tradition of service forward.

Council Member (chose one) 3 Year Term

Jessica Ryan

Ikwewidoog indizhinikaz. I’m Jessica Ryan, descendant of George Skeesuck. My husband Rob and I have two precious little ones. Many of you asked me to run for council and I humbly honor those requests.

I’ve always been active in the BIN and Indian community: helping organize the first bus trip out east and MN meetings, taking minutes, sharing our history; participating in WI gatherings, teachings, ceremonies and Indian ways of life. As a recognition committee member, I met with the BIA in Washington D.C. (1/2010) and continue to pursue federal acknowledgment status.

As an attorney, I represent Tribal governments (10 years) (bpslawfirm.com) and serve as an Appellate Court Judge. I volunteer on Indian Boards of Directors and enjoy time with relatives and making crafts.

I feel a strong connection to our heritage and pride for our People. I would be honored to serve on the Tribal Council.

-Jessica Ryan

Steven Craven

Hi I'm Steven Craven an d am running for the Tribal Council position. I am descended from the Shelley line. I have always kept informed of tribal affairs, but in the background.  Due to changes in my work schedule, I now have time to attend our monthly meetings.

I am throwing my hat into the ring as Council member, to try to make a difference in tribal efforts and to bring about tribal unity. I want to help however I can and address all of the problems our tribe is facing. I am completely dedicated to the Brothertown tribe.

Peacemaker (chose one) 5 Year Term

Edd Welsh

As one of the original PEACEMAKERS and the only Attorney/ Business Law Professor, I've been involved in the Recognition process since 1980 and as a member of the BIN Recognition Committee,  I attended the January 2010 Technical Meeting in Washington and watched the BIN grow from a Wisconsin-based to a group with a national perspective.  I've come full circle as a member of the BIN and wish to continue to serve as a PEACEMAKER.

I've been teaching since 1982 Phoenix, Arizona and represent the Maricopa Community College District in Native American issues and represented the District at NIEA's annual convention in October 2009 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a part of the BIN booth and color guard.

I also teach Indian Law and have been active since graduating from Arizona State in 1980 with a JD Degree.   PEACEMAKERS with a legal background can serve as judges to apply and uphold the law and to establish the BIN  judicial branch.  PEACEMAKERS need to be objective and neutral and apply the law regardless of their personal feelings.

Rose Kramer

I am the youngest (of six) of the oldest (of 14) of the younger George Skeesuck.  Our nine grandbabies are part of the 10th generation of Skeesucks.  My home is in central MN, a short distance from the area where many Brothertowns settled after being forced to leave our Wisconsin homeland.

As a BIN member, I am thrilled to have:  visited our original eastern homeland; hosted BIN meetings in MN; attended the recent Office of Federal Acknowledgment’s meeting on their Proposed Finding in Washington, D.C.;  participated in many  events & gatherings in WI; shared traditional ways,  (i.e. building a sweat lodge, and making star blankets);  been nominated for Peacemaker.

Being married for 41 years, and a parent for 37 (grandparent for 14) years, an advocate for victims of sexual violence, and director of a non-profit agency for 20 years are life experiences that will help me serve as BIN Peacemaker.

Sandy Pawlacyk

I started helping the Brothertown Tribe in 1994. Some of the things I have done for the Brothertown Tribe so far are:
Worked on the Recognition Committee helping to put together the
Petition; was Council Secretary for 4 yrs. (1994-98); worked on Crafts
Committee, making items at workshops to sell; working the Brothertown
Booth at Powwow; working at Indian Summer teaching children how to make Indian Jewelry for about 12 yrs.; Co-Chaired Crafts Business for 1 yr.; spent several years going to schools and talking to pre-school and grade school children about the Brothertown Tribe and Indian Religious items.
Also, I've been learning more about Indian Religious items, Ceremonies, and Songs from other Tribes and have been teaching them to our Tribal members.
I am now running for Peacemaker and would be very happy to receive your vote.
